Daniel Wong
Daniel began doodling at a young age. He is diagnosed with intellectual disability and high anxiety disorder which comes with sensory challenges such as sitting for long to do a task and getting paint or pastels on his hands. After many years of participating in art classes under the guidance, dedication, patience and support of Art For All tutor Lynda, Daniel has progressed tremendously. It is great to have a place and an activity that Daniel can go to enjoy and just be himself.
Structured classes help settle Daniel in his learning. He now enjoys his routine art classes at the studio or through zoom sessions - copying pictures that Lynda draws on the board, then completing his painting using paints and pastels. His favourite part of the process is doing the outline in black vivid.
Daniel made into the top 100 IHC Art awards in 2020 with his entry “I am Kiwi, a Kiwi I am”. He worked very hard completing various iconic kiwi pictures for this piece. We also completed a travel project – featuring Daniel’s travels around New Zealand during the Covid19 pandemic, where he was able to enjoy a less crowded adventure.
Daniel’s quirky style is very popular and he has sold many artworks.
